Creating a HomeGroup will help you to share any kind of files such as media files, documents, and even the printer access with other computers on the same HomeGroup. You can also stream media to other devices as well.
Your HomeGroup will be password protected and if any user wish to join your HomeGroup they need to enter the password to ensure the privacy. The choice of sharing the files with other users is entirely up to you and you can always choose what you wish to share.
Steps To Create A HomeGroup On Windows:
Note: To create a HomeGroup your network location should be set to “Home Network“.
Step 1: To get started, first go to Start -> Control Panel.
Step 2: Now in the control panel window select “Network And Internet”
Step 3: Inside Network And Internet select “HomeGroup”.
Step 4: The HomeGroup window will open up. Now select “Create HomeGroup” in the bottom right corner of the window.
Step 5: In the “Create HomeGroup” dialog box, select the type of files that you want to share by checking the box next to it and click “Next”.
Step 6: This will create the new HomeGroup and a random password will be displayed as shown in the screenshot below. Take a note of it and click “Finish“. You can always change this password in the settings page of the “HomeGroup”.
Now you have successfully created a HomeGroup. To change the HomeGroup Password just follow the below steps.
Step 1: Go to control panel again and open the HomeGroup as mentioned in the previous steps.
Step 2: In the HomeGroup window, click on “Change the password”.
Step 3: Now Change Password window will open up. Click on “Change Password” in this window.
Step 4: Enter the password of your choice and click “Next” to change the password.
This will now change your HomeGroup password.
