Have you upgraded to the new Windows 10 Operating system? Wish to create a new user account to sign in to your desktop? If yes is your answer for both these queries, then you are on the right page. In this tutorial, I am going to provide the procedure to create a new user account in Windows 10.
In Windows 10, the user can either sign in with their Microsoft account or as a local user and access the desktop. But some of the major features like sync will only be available for Microsoft users.
If you don’t wish to create a Microsoft account, then you can create a local user account and use it to sign in to your Windows 10 PC. Let us discuss the procedure in detail here.
Steps To Create A New User Account In Windows 10:
Step 1: To get started, click on the Windows icon in the taskbar and select Settings (gear icon).
Alternatively, you can also press the Win key on your keyboard and select Settings from the menu.
Step 2: In the settings page, select “Accounts.”
Step 3: This will now open up the Accounts settings page as shown below.
Step 4: Select “Family & Other Users” from the left pane and select “Add Someone Else to this PC” under other users section in the right pane.
Step 5: Now you will be presented with “How will this person sign in?” screen. Click the link “I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.”
Step 6: In the next screen, you will be prompted to create a new Microsoft account. Skip this section and click on “Add a user without a Microsoft account” to create a local user account.
Step 7: Now you will be prompted to enter your User Name, and password for the local user. You can also set a password hint for your password. Click “Next” once done.
Note: You can leave the password field blank to create a user account without a password.
That’s it. You have now created a new local user on your Windows 10 PC.
To sign in to your new account, right click on the Windows icon in the taskbar and select Shut down or Sign out -> Sign Out to lock the screen and sign in to your new account.
