Do you know how to record your desktop screen using YouTube without any software? If not, this article will guide to do that quite easily. Normally, there are many screen casting tools available to record your desktop screen. But you can record videos using YouTube without using any software’s at all. All you have to have is just a YouTube account and a browser.
Here are the simple steps which you can use to record desktop screen using YouTube. Using this method, you can record high-definition videos i.e., videos in 720p (you will need to resize your desktop window to 16:9 ratio before broadcasting).
Record Your Desktop Screen Using YouTube
Step 1: Initially, you will need to sign into your YouTube Account. Next, in the upper right corner click Upload button and you will be asked to created your channel. So, create YouTube channel using your first and last name.
Step 2: Once done, you will be taken to the YouTube upload page. You can find Live Streaming on the right sidebar. Click on the “Get Started” button.
Now, you will see the “Stream Now” page. In the left sidebar under “Live streaming” click on “Events” and then “Enable live streaming” by verifying your account using a mobile number and agreeing to YouTube’s terms and conditions. If you have already verified your account, move on to step 3.
Step 3: Now your account has been enabled for live streaming. Click on “Create live event” and give a video title of screen casting.
Then you have to set video privacy to either “Private” or “Unlisted” and then click on “Go Live Now” button.
Step 4: Once you click on “Go Live Now” button, a Google Hangout will open up. Now, turn off your webcam “Camera” and “Microphone” by using their respective buttons in Google hangout.
Step 5: Once done, click on “Screenshare” button (which is in the left sidebar) and select your desired window for recording. Please note that if you are using the virtual desktop, clicking the “Screenshare” button will only show program windows that are active in the existing desktop.
Step 6: Now, click “Start broadcast” to start recording your desktop screen. Since you have set the video privacy to “Private” or “Unlisted”, no one will be able to watch your broadcast while it is recording. When you have completed recording, click stop broadcast button.
Now, you can publish your recorded video by changing the privacy to “Public” in YouTube.
