What Is An IP Address Conflict?
Before getting started with the tutorial, let’s have a look at the meaning of an IP address conflict?.
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique address assigned to a computer, which will act as an identifier in the network of computers. It contains a string of numbers like 192.168.1.102. An IP conflict occurs when two or more devices or computer carries the same IP on the same network. You can assign an IP to a computer manually by entering it in the IPV4 properties of your Network Adapter, or you can set the system to obtain IP address automatically from the DNS Server.
Steps To Resolve IP Address Conflict Error in windows
Step 1: To get started, press “Ctrl + R” on your keyboard to open up the “Run” box. In that, type “cmd” and hit “Enter”. This will open up the Command Prompt.
Alternatively, you can also open the Command Prompt from Windows -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
Step 2: Next, type “ipconfig” in the command prompt and hit “Enter”. This will reveal the IP Address of your computer.
Step 3: Now to fix the IP address conflict error, you need to release the IP address that the computer is holding. Just type “ipconfig/release” and press “Enter” to release the IP address.
Step 4: Next, obtain a new IP address by typing “ipconfig/renew” in the command prompt and pressing “Enter”. This will automatically assign a new IP address to your windows 7 computer.
