Have you ever tried to open the Recycle Bin by searching in the Windows Start Menu? Did the search returns nothing? If yes is your answer, then here is a workaround that will let you add Recycle Bin to Start menu search on your Windows 7 PC.
The Start menu’s search in Windows turns out to be the best time-saver. You can easily find folders, files, programs and a lot more through the Start menu’s search function in Windows 7. However, you can’t find the recycle bin in the Search Menu until you manually added it to the Start Menu Folder of Windows.
Here is a simple workaround that will help you to find the Recycle Bin directly from the Start menu search of your windows.
Steps To Add Recycle Bin To Start Menu Search In Windows 7:
Step 1: First you need to create a shortcut for the Recycle Bin. Right-click on the desktop and select New -> Shortcut from the context menu.
Step 2: In the Create New Shortcut Wizard, you need to enter the path for the shortcut in the first page. Enter the below location in the text box provided and click Next.
Step 3: The next screen will let you set a name for the shortcut. Enter a name in the text box and click Finish.
You can enter the name as “Recycle Bin”.
Step 4: Now the shortcut is created on your desktop. Go to the start menu location in your windows explorer. In most cases, the path of the start menu will be:
Step 5: Enter the path in your windows explorer, and this will open up the Start Menu folder of your windows.
Step 6: Copy the shortcut created (Step 4) and paste it in the Start Menu folder.
Step 7: Now right-click on the shortcut and select Properties to change the icon of the shortcut.
Step 8: In the properties window, under Shortcut tab, click on Change Icon button.
Step 9: Enter the following path in the “Look for icons in this file” text box and hit Enter.
Step 10: A list of available icons will be displayed, scroll down and select the Recycle Bin icon. Click Ok once selected.
That’s it. You have now successfully added the Recycle Bin to your Windows 7 Start menu.
