Did you know that you can launch any of your favorite application by simply using your keyboard shortcut keys? Yes, there are many default keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl + C to copy something) that will make your work simpler and easier. You can also create a custom keyboard shortcut for your frequently visited apps. In this tutorial, I am going to provide simple steps that will help you to create a keyboard shortcut for your favorite apps.
Note: For this tutorial purpose, I am going to create a shortcut key for Microsoft Word. Using this method you can create a shortcut key for any apps installed in your Windows computer. Also this method will also work in all the versions of windows i.e, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista & Windows XP.
Steps To Create A Keyboard Shortcut For Your Favorite Apps:
Step 1: To get started, right-click on the any app installed in your computer and select “Properties“. Since I am going to create a shortcut key for Microsoft word, I have right-clicked on the app and selected its properties.
Step 2: This will now open up the “Properties” window. Navigate to the “Shortcuts” tab and under the Shortcut Key section enter the shortcut key for the app.
For example, I am selecting “w” for this tutorial. By default windows will accompany your selected key with Ctrl + Alt, which means I can open up MS word using this shortcut: Ctrl + Alt + w
Step 3: Under the Run section you can also select how to open the app once you press the key like,
- Normal window
- Minimized window
- Maximized window
Step 4: Once selected, click “Apply” and click OK“.
That’s it. Now using the Ctrl + Alt + w, I can launch MS word. Using this method, you can easily launch your favorite app with the chosen shortcut key.
