Are you a regular user of Google Calendar? Do you wish to create a keyboard shortcut to launch it quickly? If yes is your answer for both of these questions, then this post is for you. Here I am going to explain how to create a keyboard shortcut to open Google Calendar.
One of the unknown and hidden features of Windows is the ability to create a keyboard shortcut to launch your favorite app at ease. The concept here is very simple: Here I am going to create a Shortcut first and then assign it a keyboard shortcut from the Shortcut Properties. Follow the steps below to get started.
Steps To Create A Keyboard Shortcut To Open Google Calendar:
Step 1: First, you need to create a shortcut. To create a shortcut right click on your Windows desktop and select New -> Shortcut from the context menu.
Step 2: Now the Create Shortcut wizard will open up. In the text box, enter the URL of Google Calendar for which you wish to create the shortcut.
Here, I am going to enter “https://www.google.com/calendar/” in the “Type the Location” text box. Once done, click Next.
Step 3: In the next window, you need to specify a name for the shortcut. For example, enter Google Calendar and click Finish.
Step 4: Now the shortcut to open the Google Calendar will be created on your desktop.
Step 5: Right click on the created shortcut and select Properties from the context menu.
Step 6: In the properties window, navigate to the Web Document Tab.
Step 7: In the text box “Shortcut Key” enter your desired shortcut key to launch the Google Calendar.
For this example, I am entering “G” as the shortcut key, and by default, this shortcut will be prefixed with Ctrl + Alt.
Step 8: Once done, click Apply and then click Ok.
That’s it. You have now successfully created the Keyboard shortcut to open Google Calendar. From now on, whenever you press Ctrl + Alt + G, Google Calendar will open up in your default browser.
