In this article, I am going to teach how to download and install Typical VMware workstation in Windows 7.
What is VMWare?
VMware is a software or a virtual machine emulator, which lets you install an OS in the virtual machine and use it as if they are on the physical machine. With virtual machines, you can install multiple OS and you can test your app’s compatibility in different platforms.
Steps To Download VMWare Workstation In Windows:
Step 1: To get started, first visit the VMware official web page from your windows browser.
Step 2: Now either create a new My VMWare account or log in to your existing My VMWare account.
Note: You need to be a registered VMWare member to download the VMWare workstation for your windows.
Step 3: Once you logged in with your account, visit this page to go to the download link. Here select the version and click “Go to Downloads” in the bottom right corner.
Step 4: Now you will be redirected to the product download page. Click on “Download Now” to begin the download of VMWare workstation.
The download will begin now. On successful download of the .exe file, you can install it with the following steps.
There are two methods to install VMWare workstation.
- Typical VMWare
- Custom VMWare
This tutorial will guide you to install typical VMware Workstation in Windows 7.
Steps To Install Typical VMWare Workstation in Windows 7:
Step 1: Double click on the downloaded .exe file to run the setup file and start the installation. Click “Run” when prompted.
Step 2: Now in the installation wizard’s welcome screen click “Next”.
Step 3: Next you need to accept the VMware License Agreement. Select “I accept the terms…” radio button and click “Next”.
Step 4: In the next screen, you may choose between the two setup types. To install the Typical VMware select Typical and click “Next”.
Step 5: The next screen will let you choose the destination folder where the app data needs to be installed. You can change the location with the “Change” button and click “Next” once the location is selected.
Note: If you choose to install the VMware on a network drive, the app can not run if the selected drive is inaccessible.
Step 6: And the software update wizard will let you choose when your VMware needs to be updated, check the box labeled “Check for product updates on startup” if you wish to check for the updates on app startup and click “Next” twice.
Step 7: And finally select the locations for the app shortcut i.e., select “Desktop” and “Start Menu Programs” and click “Next” again.
Step 8: In the final screen click “Continue” to begin the installation process. If you wish to check the options you can always go back with the “Back” button and modify the options.
Step 9: After the successful installation, the setup will prompt you enter the License key. Enter the license key in the text box provided if you purchased the app, else click “Skip” to skip this step and to continue to the next screen.
Step 10: Click “Finish” in the setup complete screen and launch the app.
That’s it. You have successfully installed the Typical VMware workstation on your windows 7 computer.
