If you are a Windows user, you will know about the Windows 10 update, i.e., Windows 10 is available for free to existing users. If you are using Windows OS, then you can easily upgrade your Windows machine to the latest Windows 10 using this option. But, what if you need Windows 10 to be installed freshly on a computer rather than an upgraded one? Well, this guide will help you. Here I have provided a tutorial to download Windows 10 ISO for a clean install.
What is an ISO file?
ISO is nothing but an image of a CD or DVD file. The file extension of an ISO image is prefixed with .iso, and you can use an ISO image file to download the disk image of an Operating System and use it for installing or upgrading your computer’s OS. The ISO image file can also be used to create an installation media using a USB flash drive or CD or DVD.
Steps To Download Windows 10 ISO File:
Step 1: To get started, first you need to visit the Microsoft’s official page where you can download the ISO image file.
Step 2: From there, you will be given with a link to Download Media Creation Tool. Click on “Download Tool Now” button to download Windows Media Creation Tool.
Step 3: Once the tool is downloaded, double-click on the .exe file to run the Installation Wizard. Next, click “Run” when prompted.
Step 5: The Media Creation Tool’s Installation wizard will open up now, and the wizard will now prompt you to accept the terms and licenses. Click “Accept” to continue the installation.
Step 6: In the next screen, you will be provided with two options. Either you can choose “Upgrade this PC now” to upgrade your windows version or “Create Installation Media For Another PC” for creating a clean installation file. For this tutorial purpose, I am going to select the second option here.
Step 7: Next, you need to select the Language, Architecture, and Edition in the preceding window. In the “Edition” drop down you can select “Home” or “Pro” and in the Architecture drop down you can select “32-bit” or “64-bit” architecture. Once done, click “Next.”
Step 8: The next screen will let you choose the media that you wish to use. You can either choose a USB flash drive, or you can download the ISO file and burn it to a DVD later. To download the ISO image select “ISO file” radio button and click “Next.”
Step 9: Now you will be prompted to choose the location to save the ISO image file. Choose the location using the”Browse” button and click “Next.”
Step 10: The download of Windows 10 ISO image will begin now. And it may take some time to download the .iso file. In the meantime, you can keep using your PC.
Step 11: Click “Finish” to exit the Installation Wizard upon successful downloading of ISO file.
That’s it. You have now successfully downloaded the ISO image file of Windows 10. You can use this ISO file for a fresh install of Windows 10 on any of your Windows PC.
